HOME VIDEOS (2025)
Shot on Sony FX3
Presented in 2.35 : 1 & 1.33 : 1
Runtime: 32:16
On the eve of his estranged father’s funeral, Bill returns to his childhood school, driven by a nagging suspicion that he left something behind. Inside, he discovers a box of VHS tapes—and as they play, the school seals itself and reality shifts, forcing him to confront the memories he buried before they swallow him whole.
Home Videos is a short film I created for my senior thesis as a Film and Media Studies major at Colgate University. A story about the in-between—between childhood and adulthood, memory and reality, nostalgia and regret—Home Videos is a meditation on transition and the uncanny, where the familiar becomes strange.
